Wombaff Trophy

Start line action.

This years Wombaff Trophy was disputed by 4 enthusiastic teams drawn from the Dart18s,Dart16s, Fast Cats and Rescue crew.  With only two ladies sailing James stepped in to form Team “ladies and gent” while the Dart18 team was manned by Lee,Ollie and Alex D.  Paul,Mike and Alex H formed the Dart16 team, leaving last and unfortunatley least the rescue team of Rich,Bert and Mat.

Team Rescue.

The session got underway in sunshine and a fresh 15 knots and whilst the Rescue boys were getting a hammering the other teams were looking fairly even.  After a pause for refreshments and to repair a rudder fitting on one of the boats the competition resumed.   Team Dart18 earned a place in the final but honours were even between Team Dart16 and Team ladies and gent who went on to win the play off and a place in the best of 3 final.

The wind had eased to around 5 knots when the first race of the final got underway.  A good start saw Team Dart18 take a 1,4,5 win leaving Team ladies and gent with a battle on their hands.  In the next race it was the start which this time let down Team Dart18 with one boat returning from an OCS leaving Team ladies and gent with a 1,2,6 to level the competition.

The final race got underway with a farily even start and both Teams had a chance to win before team ladies and gent snatched it with a 1,2,6.
