Steve Seeks Sponsorship

Steve's final plea for support is copied below. If you have tried sailing 26 miles, you have to respect the effort he has put in to be able to run that far. His cause is also a worthy one and he has offered to support the sailors' Get Fit Boot Camp. Go to the Bulletin Board for more info and details on how to donate.

Email from Steve Scott:

Hi, Just a quick request. As you may or may not know, I'm running the London Marathon this Sunday on behalf of the British Lung Foundation.  I am trying to raise as much as possible and have pretty much reached a target of £1500. I have left a couple of messages and updates on the forum and put a paper sponsor form up on the noticeboard in the club. So far I have received no sponsorship from Dee SC on last checking the board. I've been a member now for around 2 years so should be a recognisable(ish) face and fairly regular racegoer for the monohuls. Any chance of a quick mention on the homepage of the website before Sunday - the race is then as you probably know. There may still be the off-chance that someone feels that it is a worthy cause.

I note that some of the members are looking into getting fit for sailing, I could write an article for the site based on my experience on the training for this and also some other stuff around fitness and physiology (anerobic thresholds etc)

Thanks loads in advance Steve Scott (Dictator / Pork Scratching)

PS - Job done:

Well that's over with!

What a fantastic experience! I would recommend to anyone who has even wondered for a split second what it would be like to get hold of an application and go for it! From saying good luck to the 'save the rhino' gang. Coming up to the Cutty Sark and then London Bridge is the dog's b****ks. The crowds were amazing, the sound deafening at the end and the weather was great (contrary to the weather in the Wirral).

Will have to ease off the aches and pains and sunburn now with a few pints tonight (been waiting for these for a while).

Anyone want to train for next year and put a DSC team together?

Thanks to those that contributed to the BLF!
