Race Officer Training @ 23 Nov, 20:00

To plagarise Ali (ok, cut&paste..): Tony Marston has organised a one hour training session on Race Officering to be held at the Club on Wednesday 23rd November commencing at 20.00hrs. This session should be a 'must attend' for all the regular racers in the fleet as you will be required to stand as Race Officer or Assistant Race Officer on at least one occasion in 2006. It will also be of use to the occasional racers and sailors as you will hopefully get an understanding of how the racing is run, the starting sequence, flags, hooters, shortened course etc etc. It will also be a good excuse for a chat with our fellow class members and a beer or two. Please try to attend.

And to cut&paste Tony himself: This is more a discussion led from experiences and will cover:

The ?challenge? of being a race officer ? why do it ?
Types of event : cub sailing, open events, championships, regattas
The essentials & priorities
Expectations

Hopefully it will be a bit of fun, possibly change a few mind sets and encourage some folk to be positive about having a go.
