Open Day

Somehow the Club swings into action and pulls off a perfectly organised Open Day every year, just as if it had been planned that way... There were at least half a dozen cats offering rides to all comers, who varied from the inquisitive to those looking for somewhere new to sail. The weather was dull & grey, so we knew that anyone who had come along was serious about sailing or sadly lacking in something better to do on a summer Saturday... I think the former applies. Everyone who had a trip with me seemed very committed to getting wet, hanging out on the trapeze to dry, and having another go if they could.

Having elected to take Animal out as a de facto people carrier, rather than the Spitfire as a demonstration of flightiness, we managed to keep the capsize tally at zero. Light winds may have helped a bit, but if I recall correctly, it wasn't that windy last year, and that didn't prevent a dip or two.

Thanks to all the members who helped make the day a success - sailors, Captain's team, caterers, beachmasters, and talkative enthusiasts all contributed to another great day out.

Tell us what you think - your comments, contributions and photos are very welcome.
