Revitalising the Club

We're all aware of the decrease in sailing activity over the years. The club is looking for ways to reverse this.

The next Sailing Committee meeting (7 November) has the sole agenda item of ?Revitalising DSC'. The aim is to gather ideas, identify possible actions and to prioritise and allocate them.

Let your Fleet Captain know what changes you would like to see, especially if it would encourage you, or people like you, to sail more often. Better still, attend the meeting, make your suggestions there and demonstrate your commitment to making it happen.

We realise we are not starting with a blank page. Many members have made suggestions already. What's different now is a recognition at all levels that action is indeed needed.

Suggestions fall into several areas, but don't be constrained by these when putting forward your own ideas. I would suggest you focus on what you want that makes us different to other clubs from your perspective ? e.g. for a Cat sailor living 45 miles away, the DSC is the only club available within an hour's drive. As such, all they may want is somewhere to store and sail a boat, ideally with rescue and retrieval services and somewhere to get changed. A dinghy or yacht sailor living on the Wirral will see things very differently, so we should focus on what attracts people to Dee SC in particular.
