Club Championships Monohull Results

The conditions for the Club Championship proved ideal for the Mono Hulls.

The handicap fleet featured the following classes ISO, RS Feva, RS 400, Laser Stratos, Wayfarer and the ultra reliable Phantom.

Race 1 saw a close start with the ISO taking line honours and the RS 400 and the Phantom meeting on Port and Starboard almost immediately after the start. At the first mark it was ISO, Phantom and RS 400 in close formation. On the down wind leg the Asymmetric 400 and ISO reached off for best speed, the Phantom headed straight down wind taking advantage of the surfing conditions and the Feva parked up while the crew to took a short swim. After a hard battle the Phantom took the honours over the water and (TBC on handicap).

Race 2 saw a few more unscheduled swimming sessions and retirements, through out the race the Stratos looked good from all angles.

Eventually through stubbornness and the adrenalin buzz that came from completing a race without gear failure or capsize the Phantom took the winning gun for the second time.

To summarise a great days racing, fast planning reaches, down wind legs surfing down breaking waves, fast tactical tacking and gybing, all that was missing was the Lasers and ICs, see you on the 22 nd Guys
