Fast Cat News

One Point Covers Top Three Places, with Three Races Remaining

It was great to see everyone out yesterday - six Fast Cats on the water and one team on OOD duty bodes well for the summer. And everyone has promised to be there for this Sunday, which is the last of the Spring Series. If some of the previous Series have been a foregone conclusion by the time the last day rolls around, this one is anything but. The climax of the Spring series will be far more exciting, with one point covering the top 3 positions, and no more discards to be had. What's more, all three teams have race wins to their credit, so anything could happen on Sunday.

As predicted, now that Klingon II has found their top batten, they hit winning form with guest crew Mark Shepherd on board. Swallow was relying on past form a bit yesterday - trying to beat in flukey winds with their dagger boards half up was never going to help! And White Tiger was becalmed behind the Start line for Race 2 yesterday while everyone else sailed off to Chester quite happily. Based on that performance, the series is wide open as we head for the last three races...

On the entertainment front, most of us saw Wild Cat put up a spirited fight, as freshman Emptage (first outing this year anyway) forgot to bear away on a gust when flying the kite and only succeeded in forcing WC into horizontal mode after first heading up to windward to depower the kite - risky, but ultimately successful, and very entertaining when viewed over your back shoulder! It didn't stop them scoring a second on their first outing, so we'll be watching out for them with immediate effect.

See you on Sunday, ready for a bit of a tussle! Start Time: 09:00
