Wayfarer and Dinghy News 11 May - Cruise Details

Hi Everyone,

For those of you who have not ventured down to the water yet it is great to be able to tell you that we have had a very successful start to the season with a turn out of 7 fully crewed boats on each of our Saturday training sessions , with tractors available to get us up and down to the beach. Five people have also received a day's training on the use of the Ribs and Dawpool , thanks to the patience of the Commodore. As a result we are now using Dawpool to provide us with safety cover for those Saturday events published in the formal club sailing programme .

With the tides not being too kind to us this year , we have also held a number of shore based talks, the last two of which have been on the subject of racing for beginners ( or how to get round the course ). >From these we hope some of you will give Sunday racing a go.

The focus of our activity now turns to the business of cruising, exploring the estuary and generally having ?a second Swallows and Amazons childhood.? The ( slightly ) revised programme given below also includes some Sunday events ? notably the Commodore's Cruise to a barbecue etc. on the Hoyle Bank at low water, and several opportunities to cruise down the estuary and round Hilbre Island at times when safety boat facilities will be available.

Opportunities also exist for informal cruises on any Sunday when racing is taking place or for you join in ( or follow on behind in ? cruising mode ? ) the racing around the cans. ? It would be good to see several Wayfarers on the water on a Sunday, which is the main club day each week .( subject to tides )

Finally , we need some volunteers, both afloat and ashore, to help with the club Open Day on Sat 29th May. Would anyone who would like to get involved with this club wide activity please let me know as soon as possible please.

Revised programme of main W & DCF activiteis are :
