Junior Happenings

Some updates from James about the Junior travellers:

Over two weekends at the end of April in Weymouth and the Spring bank holiday weekend Cameron Douglas and Michael Moruzzi competed in the Volvo Optimist world and European Team selection trials against 86 of the best Optimist sailors in the country.

The first weekend was dominated by light winds and our two sailors struggled a bit. The second weekend in Pwllheli had some great winds and they both improved. Cameron put in a good series in Pwllheli and won two races in a row in the wind and big waves. He narrowly missed a European team place and was selected for the British team to go to the French National champs in August. Michael with better results on the second weekend to rise to 36th Overall. See attached Y&Y report. http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/?article=136283

Last weekend Alex Douglas and James Hazelwood were invited to represent the RYA west zone in the Eric Twiname Championship (Inter zone) at Rutland water. There were 330 competitors in total and 61 Optimists. Both competed well and had some good results in a strong field of the best in the 11-12 age group.

All the sailors will be competing in the Optimist Inland Championships at Grafham Water this weekend 19/20 May
