Commodore's Cruise

22 June - Update

The plan, to be finalised, is to hit the water at 8:00am, with an official Start from the Ark at 8:15. We will race out to the Hoyle Bank, where a Rib will have laid a Finish line and be waiting for us.

We're also looking for volunteers to serve at the 'Bar' and BBQ - I suggest that we do a few shifts between us to share the duty.

15 June - Commodore's Cruise

Anyone who has been on a Commodore's Cruise need read no further - you how much fun the day can be.

For those that haven't been before, this is a glorious day out. The idea is to sail out on the ebbing tide, to somewhere just off Hilbre Island, whereupon a sandbank will appear. We then land upon said sandbank and claim it for the day. The kindred clubs have the same idea, so pretty soon the place is a beach sports venue, BBQ grill, and beach bar rolled into one. Not to mention a fantastic racing location, with vast expanses of flat water, a healthy off-shore breeze, and more three-sail reaching posing opportunities along the shoreline than even White Tiger can handle.

When we tire of all that, we 'race' back to the Dee on the incoming tide, and reflect upon a fulfilling and wholesome day out over some ginger beer, and make our way home for a satisfyingly restful night's sleep.

When? Sunday 24th June. All Day. Early Start...

Simon
