Fast Cat News

Great sailing today! At long last we had a day with moderate breeze and flattish seas. That's not to say there wasn't a capsize anywhere to be seen, or the odd trough to deal with as we piled downwind under kite power. But everyone who could turn out, did. Poor old Mark was stuck with a night shift, and Graham chose the wrong weekend to take a holiday (well, hopefully not!). Meantime, the rest of us had checked the forecast, decided to trust it, and set our alarms for 6am - and it was well worth it. Mostly flat water and twin wiring every which way if you so chose.

So as things stand after five races, second, third and fourth places are covered by a single point. Carpe Die(ee) Em  lies second, with a string of seconds, and one point behind are Swallow, with results ranging from first to fourth, and Klingon II with  a second and thirds. The point of which is - I expect it to stay a tight group throughout the series, and whoever can stay consistent, or improve a little, will probably emerge ahead.

Did you spot that Richard has achieved his goal for the year: a first!??!? Good on yer! So how did he drop to fourth by the next race? Shall we just say that a combination of excess celebration and an efficient Race Officer saw realisation dawning on Richard's face as the rest of the fleet were tacking for the windward mark. Watch out for them flags!

See you next week for more of the same we hope.

Simon
