Junior Tour News

"Since the last Junior on tour report the DSC juniors have attended the RYA West Zone championships at Ullswater, Laser 4.7 opens, the Optimist End of Season Championships, Optimist Open at Budworth and the 420 Inland Championships.

At the RYA Zone championships James Hazelwood was 6th, Alex Douglas 16th and Max Spedding (in his first outing at a major event) was 23rd. The light conditions were challenging but James, Alex and Max did well enough to be selected for the RYA West Zone optimist squad training this winter.

Max followed up by going to the Optimist Open meeting at Budworth and winning the open with 3 straight firsts!!!

The Volvo Musto Optimist End of season championships was held at Weymouth in Mid Oct. Once again the winds were very light, not suiting all the heavier sailors. At the end of the weekend DSC results were:
Cam Douglas 9th, Mike Moruzzi 93rd, James Hazelwood 106th and Alex Douglas 156th, all out of 256 boats!!!
It is worth noting that not only were they representing the club but also the North West as there we no other clubs in the North West represented.

Cameron Douglas has been offered a place in the Laser 4.7 national squad and will start training during the winter after finishing 5th in the selection series.

Mike Moruzzi has also pretty well grown out of oppies and will popping up in other boats in 2008."
