15 April
Dee Battle , Dee Leg, 27 April
The home leg of the Dee Battle is scheduled for Sunday 27 April, and the monohulls have some work to do. The cause of gathering the required eight point margin can only be helped by a decent turnout - oh, and pushing the Chester boats as far down the field as possible! Hopes are pinned on Chester's relative inexperience of the lumpy stuff [Ed - you might do well to hide the marks behind a wave or two... but good luck!]
Here's the results from the Chester leg, courtesy of Andy Todd from Chester.:
First race
1 John Prior, Phantom (0.5)
2 Andy Todd, Laser (2)
3 Iain Blair, Laser (3)
4 Riley Senior+junior, Ent (4)
5 Mike Maddocks+Cerys Done, Ent/Liz Whitehead, Laser (tied)(5)
14 Mike Dodd+?, Ent (12)
Dee Total = 15.5 Chester Total = 11
Second race
1 John Prior, Phantom (0.5)
2 Iain Blair, Laser (2)
3 Team Riley, Ent (3)
4 Phil Proctor+Bill Broughall, Ent (4)
5 Liz Whitehead, Laser (5)
12 Mike Dodd+?, Ent (12) Dee Total = 14.5 Chester Total = 12
After sailing 2 races Dee Total = 30 Chester Total = 23
Not bad considering you were seriously outnumbered! What will the estuary do to the standings? Will river sailors adapt to lumpy water? Can we sabotage John's Phantom? Is the moon made of cheese? These questions will be answered in the next episode.........
