2010 News

1-2 May BALA CAT OPEN REPORT
Two teams from Dee SC made their way to Bala lake for Bala Catamaran Clubs annual catamaran open. Mat Pollock and Pete Clements in the Dart 18 and Richard Stacey in the Spitfire.
Boats were rigged and campsite set up on the Friday evening before joining the locals for the evening. Saturday brought a very light winds and racing was postponed for 2 hours before we eventually got a race in very light winds. The Spitfire scored a highly respectable 5th with the Dart coming in 14th. A barbecue followed and the ale was flowing.
With slightly fuzzy heads we awoke on Sunday to a good force four and out we went with the hope of doing better. Richard and Alex scored a 10th in race 2 and 6th in race 3. Mat and Pete scored a 12th in race 2 but suffered severe gear failure in race 3 that ended their campaign. Gear failure in race 4 also ended Richard and Alex's hopes for prizes.
Overall Richard and Alex finished 13th and Mat and Pete finished 17th in a field of 22. Despite the breakages, a great weekend was had by all. We'll certainly be back next year why don't you join us! PICS

29-31 May DEE ESTUARY REGATTAS WEEKEND

NOTE Due to access issues discussed below the Dee Regatta prizegiving will be held at WKSC

ACCESS TO DEE SAILING CLUB
The music festival “Sunset over Thors Rock” is due to be held at White’s farm, which is on the north side of Station Road Thurstaston, over the period from midday Friday 28 May to 16.00 Sunday 30 May. Traffic along the A540 (Telegraph Road) and from there to the Sailing Club via Station Road and Church Farm Lane is likely to be heavy so those seeking access to the Club should allow for possible delays!

Some members may have seen or become aware of a Public Notice issued by Wirral B C Highways department published in the Liverpool Daily Post on 19 May 2010 which announces that an order will be made under the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 closing the whole of Station Road and Church Farm Lane (except for emergency vehicles) from 00.01 Friday 28 May until 23.59 Sunday 30 May 2010. I have today spoken to the Highways Department who confirm that they have made the order in case an incident occurs in the vicinity which necessitates the closure being implemented so that the emergency services can deal with the problems. In the ordinary course of events, however, access to and from the Club will normally be available throughout the period of the festival via the usual routes, although subject to possible delays as mentioned above. Security and Traffic Management personnel are to due be deployed to cope with the expected traffic flows.

12 April Cameron Douglas wins Youth Nationals

Watch a video interview here.
Also, if you have time on your hands you can replay the final races by clicking on the tracking menu icon, they had GPS trackers on for the last races, quite interesting.
