Dee Long Distance Race 2011 (30th to the 31st July)

Two days of challenging racing in river, estuary and open sea conditions, amongst the beautiful scenery of the Wirral and North Wales coastlines taking in Hilbre Island. This is an event that will challenge both boat handling and seaman ship skills along with race tactics to perform and win.

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012.

1.2 The following prescriptions of the RYA will apply. All changes will appear in full in the sailing instructions.

1.3 Racing Rules 44.1 and 44.2 will be changed as follows: The penalty shall be a 360 degree turn, which shall include one tack and one gybe.

1.4 RRS 40 – Personal Buoyancy & Safety – Flag ‘Y’ will not be flown.

1.5 All entrants must ensure their boats comply with their Class Regulations.

2 Advertising

2.1 Boats may advertise but not tobacco products or other items the Race Committee would consider inappropriate. Boats may be required

to display advertising provided by the Organising Authority.

3 Eligibility and Entry

3.1 The regatta is open to all Catamarans with a PY 802 or less and invitation dinghies (invitation dinghies are those performance craft that have sort the approval of the race committee).

3.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the Entry Form

3.3 Late entries will be accepted until 8am on 30

th  July 2011.  

4 Fees

4.1 Required fees are as follows:

£20 for non members

£15 for Dee Sailing Club members

5 Schedule

5.1 Registration will be open from 8am to 10am on Saturday 30th July 2011 in the club house.

5.2 Briefing will take place at 09:00 hrs on both Saturday 30

th and Sunday 31st July 2011.

5.3 Racing Schedule:

6 Measurements

6.1 Measurement certificates will NOT be requested at registration, but every competitor must ensure that their craft complies with their relevant Class Association and/or handicap rules.

7 Sailing Instructions

7.1 The sailing instructions will be available at registration or earlier upon request.

8 Venue

8.1 Racing will take place at Dee Sailing Club, Station Road, Thurstaston, Wirral.

9 Courses

9.1 Courses to be sailed will be published on site.

10 Penalty System

10.1 The penalties are as follows: Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required.

10.2 Decisions of the Protest Committee will be final as provided in Rules 70.4.

11. Prizes

11.1 Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams on handicap.

 

11.2 Prizes will be awarded, at the discretion of the Race Committee, to leading junior sailors aged 19 and under on the day of the regatta.
