View from the rear….

A quick post to keep everyone updated on what’s going on at the club & on the water.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

On Bank Holiday Monday we had the Club Open Day, where we raised over £60 for the lifeboat and said thank you to everyone who helped with the club refurb over the winter. It was great to see the club so busy, with lots old and new members coming down, keeping James very busy behind the BBQ for a marathon burger flipping shift!

Dart 16 winter training

BTraining 1

Three crews took to the water today on the 4th winter training session that’s been held over the close season.

A “little” less wind than on the 24th Jan, meant the guys were able to spend more time on the water getting used to the strange double hulled crafts!

Training 2

After tacking and gybing practice, everyone quickly got the hang of it and we were able to introduce a competitive edge to proceedings with 3 quick races.

Jack and Issy were victorious in the first race, which saw the teams quickly realise you can’t tack a cat like you can a firefly! After that Octavia and Ruby took control with 2 wins, to narrowly edge the overall result after an indiscretion in the first race led to disqualification!!

The day was finished off with burgers and cups of tea, sat by the fire to warm up!

Many thanks to all the helpers and the sailers for making it a great session, the next one is scheduled for Sat 21st Feb. If you would like to join in please let Simon know on  com@dee-sc.co.uk

Cheers

Lee
