Commodores Cruise this Sunday.
Its is nearly time for the Commodores Cruise our annual sail out to Hoyle bank.
For those not familiar this is a whole day out on the estuary involving sailing, beer , sailing, beer, sailing, beer, food , fun and games. Launching on the ebb tide we will sail out towards Hoyle bank which is just to the east of Hilbre Island. Totally covered at HW the bank becomes exposed as the tide retreats. We then occupy our own private island for several hours before the advancing tide gives us a cue to leave. Our motor launch Dawpool will be stocked with beer, wine and the BBQ to make sure we are fed and watered.
With a full day sailing this is a great opportunity to swap boats with other members and get a taste of a different craft, or simply take in the sun and a few beers. Quite often the most memorable day of the sailing calender I strongly advised you come and join in.
HW is 0736 so for those that wish to launch from the beach I suggest no later than around 0900 hrs with the last opportunity to launch from the end of the causeway no later than about 0930.
The evening HW is 2019 so we will be able to return around 1830 to 1900.
For those who wish to take part but are not intending to sail out there are two options. You can jump on board a rib at the club or telephone the club event mobile and ask for a lift out from the beach at West Kirby. The number is 07977 867445.
I hope to see you all on the bank this weekend.
