Hi Everyone,
The excitement is building in the Waddington household as we inch nearer to this Saturday’s Commodore’s cruise. This is, for me, one of the highlights of the year and one I can’t recommend highly enough.
So what is it?
On Saturday morning at 10am, just after high tide we set off from the beach and head down the estuary to the West of Hilbre. As we sail and the tide flows out, what can only be described as ‘paradise’ in the form of a huge sand bar appears from beneath the water. This island sanctuary then becomes our base for the whole day: Well us and a hundred seals or so!
There will be everything from single handed dinghies to cruisers, not to mention ribs with the all important BBQ, Bar, cricket bats, rounders etc etc on board. We spend the whole day sun bathing, sailing on various boats and generally having fun until we sail back on the rising tide in the evening.
This really is a day not to be missed so lets get everyone down there.
For those members of the family that can’t get onto a boat, first of all, let me know and we’ll try and find you a crewing opportunity. Failing that if you can walk to Hilbre and give me call we’ll look to get one of our ribs across to pick you up.
So pack a bag with some sun cream, a hat, a few drinks, a little food and maybe a bucket and spade and get your self down: Give me a call if you need help with logistics or need to borrow a boat.
Before I go, just in case you haven’t seen, there’s also racing starting at 1830 on the river on Thursday night which along with Saturday promises to be gorgeous sailing weather.
